A Member Of The Parliamentary Legal Committee Confirms The Completion Of Drafting The Proposed Amendments To The Anti-Prostitution Law No. 8 Of 1988

Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, MP for Maysan Governorate, Raed Hamdan Al-Maliki, confirmed the completion of drafting the proposed amendments to the Anti-Prostitution Law No. 8 of 1988.

Al-Maliki said in a press statement: "The new amendment includes amending the name of the law to be (combating prostitution and homosexuality) and criminalizing with deterrent penalties for some forms of homosexuality, including same-sex relations and promoting them."

He added: "We will proceed with the legislation of the law after resuming the sessions of the House of Representatives in its second legislative term of this year."
