5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Ryukyu Islands in Japan

Tokyo, May 8, 2022, SPA -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the Ryukyu Islands in Japan on Saturday.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km below sea level at the confluence of latitude 26.97 degrees north and longitude 126.28 degrees east.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material losses.
