Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, Muhammad Tamim, discussed, today, Sunday, with a delegation from the World Bank, multi-stage support for the development road project. A statement by the Ministry of Planning stated that Tamim received, today, Sunday, a delegation from the World Bank, headed by Jean-Christophe Carré, Regional Director for the Middle East. The delegation included the Regional Director for the Infrastructure Sector at the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, Paul Numba, and Alex Madeleine, a specialist in the energy sector. The meeting, which was attended by Richard Abdel Nour, Special Representative of the World Bank mission in Iraq, discussed the level of multi-stage support provided by the World Bank for the development road project, including the modernization of the current railway network, the new link to Turkey, and the southern link with the Grand port of Al-Faw. According to the statement, the two sides stressed the developmental and economic importance of the development road project through the job opportunities, investments, and regional development it provides. According to the statement, the two sides also discussed the continued support from the World Bank for the energy sector in Iraq, with regard to strengthening the electricity network, developing renewable energy, and regional connectivity. Manama, His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Commander of the National Guard, received Major General Kashif Abdullah, Director General of Military Operations at the General Command of the Pakistani Army. The meeting discussed topics of common interest. The National Guard Commander praised the Bahrain-Pakistan relations and the advanced cooperation between the National Guard and the Pakistani army.
