The forces of the Rapid Response Division Command arrested /12 / persons accused with various materials in the Baghdad and Wasit governorates. The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: 'The forces of the Rapid Response Division Command in the Ministry of Interior arrested 12 defendants according to various legal articles, including drug trafficking, and the seizure of vehicles, motorcycles, and narcotic materials in the governorates of Baghdad and Wasit.' It added: "The operation was carried out in cooperation and participation with the leadership of the Federal Police Forces, the Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Wasit, and the Division's Intelligence Department, where the accused and the seized items were handed over to the requesting party. Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, participated in the 27th meeting of Information Ministries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Qatar. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Media Corporation. Dr. Al Noaimi affirmed the importance of developing media cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and coordination within the strategic plan for joint media cooperation of the GCC countries (2023-2023). This strategic plan aims to strengthen the role of the Gulf media in protecting the interests of the GCC countries and bolstering the pillars of their security and stability. The minister said that the Gulf media message holds a significant responsibility in this delicate period in the region's history and the importance of strengthening joint solidarity. The minister highlighted the meeting's importance in developing Gulf media by discussing and finalising previous projects, agreeing on recommendations, and staying updated on digital and artificial intelligence advancements. Dr. Al Noaimi affirmed the kingdom's efforts in promoting media cooperation between Bahrain and GCC countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He expressed Bahrain's readiness to host the 54th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers from May 27-29, following the successful organisation of the 33rd Arab Summit under the leadership of HM King Hamad. The summit resulted in decisions and recommendations on Arab affairs, covering politics, economics, security, and encouraging cooperation. The minister underscored Bahrain's media initiatives aimed at bolstering cooperation among Arab media professionals, and exchanging expertise, which aim at strengthening the media sector regionally, in light of Manama's designation as the Capital of Arab Media for 2024. The meeting discussed various topics, including establ ishing guidelines for online advertisements on social media platforms in GCC countries and developing a media strategy to advocate morals, social values, Gulf identity, and digital safety for children in the region. The meeting discussed the production of a collaborative radio drama, creating radio programmes aimed at the youth interested in technology and the digital economy, and producing joint television programmes. A force from the 22nd Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces, in coordination with the Security and Operations Command of Kirkuk and East Tigris of the Popular Mobilization Forces, thwarted an unlicensed medicines smuggling operation from Erbil Governorate to Baghdad. The PMF media said in a statement: 'The operation took place during an elaborate ambush in the Hamrin Hills, where the force was able to thwart the smuggling of a large shipment of unlicensed medicines that was coming from Erbil to Baghdad Governorate and arrest the truck driver.' The Federal Police forces arrested (19) defendants according to various legal articles in Baghdad. The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement: 'The security effort for operations to impose security and order carried out by units of the Fifth Division of the Federal Police, with the support of the intelligence effort and attached units in the areas east of the capital, Baghdad, resulted in the arrest of (19) defendants in accordance with legal provisions that included (quarrel, violators), residence conditions include possession of an unlicensed weapon, failure to carry identification documents, in addition to the seizure of a number of illegal cars and motorcycles.'
