Velayati said when receiving national security adviser Faleh al-Fayyad in Tehran, according to Iranian media "The meeting included discussion bilateral relations and regional and international cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad,"
"The relations between Iran and Iraq are strategic," he added, describing "the future of bilateral relations between the two countries as very valuable and growing."
Velayati confirmed that his country has demonstrated that it will not give up the Iraqi people,", referring to "the role of Iranian advisers in supporting the Iraqi government to eliminate terrorists in this country."
"Today, Iraq is a strong country on both the Islamic and Arab levels and is playing a crucial role in the region and the world," he said.
He expressed "the pleasure of holding the Iraqi elections successfully, looking forward to" forming a new government soon.
