Shakira visits Tannourine Cedar Forest Nature Reserve

The internationally-renowned Singer, Shakira, has arrived to the town Tannourine, where she visited the Tannourine Cedar Forest Nature Reserve at the invitation of Lebanon's Honorary Consul in Brancia, Colombia, Edmond Bou Merheb.

Tannourine is the birthplace of her grandfather.

The highly acclaimed Shakira was greeted by Tannourine Municipality head, Bahaa Harb, and municipal council members.

Shakira is currently on a visit to Lebanon to perform at the inauguration of Cedars International Festival tomorrow.

Shakira planted two cedar trees in said reserve, one in her name and the other in the name of her Lebanese origin family.

In her delivered word, Shakira said in the Arabic language "Shukran (Thank You) Tannourine," noting that she has ever signified the "Cedar" tree in Colombia.

Shakira also thanked Tannounrine officials for the warm welcome and reception, thanking her ancestors and Dad "for the roots they have given her" to belong to this beautiful land.
