SFDA heads Saudi’s delegation to SPS Committee’s meeting in Geneva

Geneva– Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the 83rd meeting of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures Committee (SPS Committee), affiliated to the World Trade Organization (WTO), held at the organization's headquarters in Geneva, from 20-24 June 2022.

During the meeting, Saudi Arabia reiterated its commitment to removing all barriers to trade with WTO members and welcomed the efforts of the SPS Committee to resolve issues affecting human health and food safety.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Saudi Arabia’s delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the WTO, during which the two sides discussed issues related to the export of Vietnamese farmed fish.

The Chairman of the SPS Committee of Saudi Arabia Dr. Majid bin Muqbel Al-Khalaf also took part of the meetings, in addition to representatives of SFDA, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and Saudi Arabia's permanent mission to WTO.
