Saudi Shura Council Speaker participates in 34th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference in Baghdad

Baghdad, The 34th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference, which is being held in Baghdad, Iraq, kicked off today, with the participation of the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation,

The conference, which comes under the title "Arab support for strengthening Iraq's stability and sovereignty", started its activities with a speech by the President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mohammed Rikan Al-Halbousi, in which he said that the Arab parliamentary gathering constitutes an important step in strengthening relations between Arab countries.

Secretary-General for Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Fayez Al-Shawabkeh announced the approval of the conference agenda and the transfer of the presidency of IPU to the Iraqi Parliament headed by Al-Halbousi, in addition to reviewing the main topics on the conference agenda.

Meanwhile, the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) held its 42nd meeting in Baghdad, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Saudi Shura Council, Mohammad bin Dakhil Al-Mutairi, during which the topics included in the meeting's agenda were discussed.

Member of the Saudi Shura Council and member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Asiri, participated in the 30th and 31st meetings of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held on the sidelines of the conference.
