Saudi Arabia’s TGA Hosts Annual Meetings of UITP in Riyadh

Riyadh-- Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA), Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih has recently inaugurated the annual meetings of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), which were held for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on November 21-23, with the participation of a group of officials, experts and specialists.

The meetings discussed ways to support efforts to promote sustainable urban mobility and develop public transport in all its modes around the world.

The importance of the meetings lies in the fact that they bring together experts and specialists in the transport and communications sector around the world as representatives of UITP, which was founded in 1885 and is currently chaired by Eng. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The UITP constitutes the first global reference in the public transport industry in its various modes, such as metro, trains, buses, taxis, self-driving vehicles, and participatory transport.

It is worth mentioning that UITP includes (1,900) bodies and organizations represented by more than (16,000) members of experts and specialists in the field of transport from different countries of the world, and it has branches in more than (100) countries.

UITP is also represented by (16) regional and liaison offices around the world.
