Saudi Arabia updates Covid regulations for pilgrims to Mecca

Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah ministry on Monday announced that pilgrims travelling to the kingdom for the Umrah pilgrimage will need to present a negative PCR or rapid antigen test on arrival. The new rules, which come into effect on Wednesday, require pilgrims to take the tests no more than 48 hours before travel. The rules will also apply to Saudi nationals and residents making the Hajj pilgrimage. Currently, foreigners are barred from the Hajj pilgrimage.
