Rahi meets Jordanian ranking officials, highlights importance of dialogue between religions

Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, kicked off the second day of his official and pastoral visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by meeting Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz at the headquarters of the Council in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Rajai Al-Muasher, Minister of Tourism Lina Annab, Ambassador of Jordan Tracy Chamoun and the accompanying delegation.

Conferees agreed to confront all forms of violence and terrorism wherever they exist, and highlighted the need to unify the Arab vision in the face of the challenges surrounding it, while emphasizing the importance of interfaith dialogue and its role in promoting moderation and spreading the culture of human rights and respect for its freedoms,

Al-Razzaz uttered interest in the project of building a Maronite church at the Jordan River Bank, underlining "the special role of Maronites in the Arab Renaissance," and expressing, on the sidelines of the meeting, "special love for Lebanon and its people, especially since he spent his university years in Beirut."

Rahi and the accompanying delegation then went to the Ministry of Tourism and met with Minister of Tourism Lina Annab who affirmed constant work on promoting Christian religious sites in Jordan and conveying their historic value, stressing that "the ministry is looking forward to reviving the religious life in some of these sites, as witnessed by Mount Nabu."
