Non-oil Sector Real GDP Grows by 4.9% in First Quarter of 2021

Riyadh, The General Authority for Statistics released on Monday, June 14, 2021, its quarterly publication of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and National Accounts for the first quarter of 2021 on its official website www.stats.gov.sa. GASTAT revealed that the real GDP of non-oil sector registered a positive growth during the first quarter of 2021 by (2.9%) compared to the same period of the previous year (2020). It also registered a positive growth by (4.9%) compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s last seasonally adjusted GDP witnessed a decrease by 0.5% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 (on a quarterly basis). This is attributed to the decrease of the oil sector growth rate by 8.7%. However, the non-oil sector registered a positive growth by 4.9% as a result of the positive growth achieved by the private sector by 6.3%, and by the government sector by 1.7%.

The National Accounts Publication is released by GASTAT on a quarterly basis. It includes tables on GDP classified by economic activities and organizational sectors in current and fixed prices, in addition to the contribution of different economic activities and organizational sectors to it, and the expenditure categories such as the government consumption expenditure, private consumption expenditure, capital formation, exports and imports.
