MAWLAWI TO GULF COUNTRIES: WE ARE COMMITTED TO THE RELATIONS THAT UNITE US

Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam al-Mawlawi stressed "the necessity of opening channels of dialogue to dispel the concerns of the Gulf states and reassure them and guarantee the interests of the Lebanese."

In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper, Minister Mawlawi said: "All we aspire for is the interest of Lebanon and its people, and the security and safety of the Gulf."

The Minister explained that the position of the government and its prime minister is clear regarding the relationship with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, saying: "We are committed to the relations that unite us."

On the other hand, Mawlawi pointed out that "the government is not threatened and is continuing, and Lebanon and the Lebanese have no interest in its departure."
