Manama, Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri, received in his office at the Ministry's General Court today, the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Prof. Riyad Y Hamzah.
The assistant foreign minister welcomed the President of UoB, and praised the efforts exerted by the University of Bahrain, highlighting the University's 31 ranking among other regional universities, and commending its efforts to develop its academic programmes to suit the emerging needs of learning and education.
Al-Doseri praised the constructive efforts made by the University of Bahrain in the field of protection and promotion of human rights, which is reflected through the introduction of the course (Human Rights Principles), as a basic course requirement to all university students without exception, as well as another human rights course for students of the Faculty of Law.
He also praised the launch of the Legal Clinic and Human Rights programme in order to provide training programmes for students, noting that they aim to spread knowledge and understanding of the basic human rights principles for university students of all disciplines.
UoB President expressed his happiness with meeting the Assistant Foreign Minister, appreciating the continued support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the provision of training programmes for students of the University of Bahrain.
A number of topics related to training and education in the field of human rights were also discussed during the meeting.
