Arab League Secretary-General and UN discuss developments in region

Cairo, As part of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit visit to New York to participate in the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Aboul Gheit discussed the developments of the Palestinian cause, the possibilities of dealing with crises in Syria and Libya, and ways to resolve the Yemeni crisis. and restore legitimacy to rule in the country.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo said in a statement tonight that Aboul Gheit reviewed during the meeting the overall positions of the Arab League towards the Palestinian cause and the Israeli plans to Judaize Alquds, while Guterres affirmed his full commitment to continue his efforts to mobilize the international effort to reach a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause.

The statement indicated that it was agreed on the need to continue international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement of the Syrian crisis, and to intensify joint work between the League of Arab States and the United Nations to urge all Libyan political parties to commit to the upcoming elections on time and to complete them successfully
