Baghdad, The Oil Expert, Hamza Al-Jawahiri, confirmed that: Iraq needs between 5 to 7 years to exploit its common fields with neighboring countries.
He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): We have common border fields with Iran, namely Abu Gharb, Fakka, Badra and Al-Fayhaa, but there are other joint fields (Siba and Sinbad) that are still not producing now and they are under development and there is an old field, which is Khanna oil, which is not currently produced from Iraq.
Al-Jawahiri added: There are other fields shared with Iran, but they have not developed from both sides.
He explained that there are three fields in common with Kuwait, but they are not developed on both sides, and there are still shapes with the border line between the two sides, which is the Southern Rumaila field, and the upper Shajil reservoir in the Zubair formation, noting that there are no common discovered fields with Saudi Arabia.
He stressed that: Iraq needs 5 to 7 years to be able to exploit these fields, indicating that: Iraq is determined by what decisions are taken in OPEC.
