GCC, UN discuss MoU on political cooperation

New York, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Negotiations at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdul Aziz Abu Hamad Al-Uwaisheg, met here on the sidelines of 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, Assistant UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Miroslav Jenca.

Al-Uwaisheg stressed the GCC Secretariat-General's keenness to enhance political coordination and cooperation with the UN regarding various regional and international issues, expressing the GCC's support for the UN efforts to maintain security and stability in the region.

The Assistant UN Secretary-General expressed appreciation of the effective played by the GCC in safeguarding the region's security and stability, lauding the GCC's efforts in backing the efforts of the UN envoys to Yemen, Syria, Libya and Iraq.

They discussed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the two sides to strengthen their joint political cooperation in the regional and global issues.
