Handball team on high spirit for final

Jakarta, Bahrain's national handball team is in high spirit ahead of their gold medal match in the 18th Asian Games, being held in Jakarta and Palembang. The nationals will take on Qatar in the final match on Friday at Gor Popki Cibubur Sports Hall.

Coached by Aron Kristjansson from Iceland, Bahrain made it into the title-deciding match after an impressive 31-20 victory over title contenders Japan in the semi-final match on Monday. The Icelandic coach will be again relying on his top players in today's final, including goalkeeper Mohammed Abdulhussain, who showed outstanding performance and was a key factor in all the team's victories earlier in the competition.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's ambassador to Indonesia Dr. Mohammed Ghassan Shaikho had a luncheon event in honor of Bahrain Olympic Committee secretary general Abdulrahman Askar and members of the delegation at the embassy. The ambassador welcomed the Bahrain delegation representatives and noted the remarkable efforts and contributions of BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in the development of sports in the Kingdom.

Elsewhere, Bahrain riders will enter the final round of the individual showjumping event today. Shaikh Hasan bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Sayed Adnan Al Alawi qualified for the final, which features 40 riders in the first session, and 25 in the second, as they fight for podium. The triathlon team, on the other hand, started their preparations in Indonesia for the women's event starting Friday in Palembang. Omar Abdulla and Samira Al-Bitar will be representing the Kingdom in their respective competitions under coach Ghanim Badawi.
