The Russian army drops a drone plane near Hameimim base in Syria

BAGHDAD, The Russian military dropped a drone plane yesterday evening near the Hameimim base in northern Syria.

"The Russian army shot down a drone plane that approached the Hameimim airbase in Syria on Saturday from the (reduced escalation) area in Idlib," the Russian news agency TASS quoted the Russian army as saying.

"The plane did not cause damage or loss of life, and the work at the Hameimim air base is proceeding normally," the Agency said.

This is not the first time that a drone aircraft have attacked the Hameimim base, where they have been attacked earlier, most recently last week.

Russia uses the Hameimim Air Base, located southeast of Ladhakia on the Syrian coast, the headquarters of its forces supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
