Manama, A Health and Safe Summer was the theme of a workshop which focused on the implementation of the two-month ban on outdoor work.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Development held the workshop in cooperation with the Ministry of Health at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam in Segaya.
The event was coordinated with the embassies of India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Bangladesh and the Nepal, in the presence of many workers and safety supervisors representing different sectors.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Development had issued an edict banning outdoor work under scorching summer heat from noon until 4 pm, during the months of July and August.
Inspection and Professional Safety director Ahmed Jaffer Al-Haiki stressed the ministry's keenness on implementing edict 3 of 2013 out of firm commitment to labour market standards, human rights and workers' rights so as to ensure a safe work environment.
He highlighted the positive responsive to the edict over the past years, as 98 per cent of employers proved committed to the two-month ban prohibition outdoor work.
