Strong Republic’ bloc delegation visits army commander

A delegation from the "Strong Republic" bloc, headed by Caretaker Social Affairs Minister, Pierre Bou Assi, on Wednesday visited Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, at the latter's office in Yarzeh.

The delegation renewed affirmation of the Lebanese Forces' full and constant support to the military institution.

Speaking on emerging, Minister Bou Assi underlined the importance of supporting and strengthening the capabilities of the military institution, as the sole side responsible for Lebanon's borders, its security and the safety of the Lebanese.

Major General Aoun briefed the delegation on the outcome of his recent visits to Australia and the United States.

The delegation affirmed its constant stance that "whoever wants to strengthen the Lebanese state has to reinforce the military, in its capacity as a fundamental pillar of the State."

The delegation emphasized the LF's conviction that "undermining the military institution inevitably leads to the weakening of the state and its institutions."

Bou Assi also hailed the role played by the army to maintain internal security, control borders and fight terrorism.
