Turkish air strikes on areas northern Iraq

BAGHDAD, The Turkish army announced on Sunday that nine PKK terrorists were being neutralized in air raids on many areas inside Iraq and northern Iraq.

The Turkish Chief of Staff, according to the Anatolia News Agency reported that Turkish fighter jets targeted yesterday the terrorist positions in the Gokurga region of Hakkari state in southeastern Turkey.

The statement added that "the aerial bombardment of the sites of the / terrorist / organization in the areas of the Zab and Afashin - Basian northern Iraq."

The statement pointed out that the air strikes destroyed sites, shelters and weapons stores belonging to the terrorist organization .

Since March 11, the Turkish armed forces have been continuing their operations against the areas of the PKK camps in northern Iraq.

Turkish planes, in cooperation with the Turkish security services and police, have been cracking down the PKK elements inside and outside the country for two years to crack down the organization, which Turkey says is carrying out terrorist attacks against Turkish civilians and soldiers in various Turkish states.

The PKK, seen by the United States, the European Union and Turkey as a terrorist organization, has waged a three-decade insurgency in Turkey's mainly Kurdish southeast, killing 40,000 people.
